Speedco Celebrates 5 Millionth Customer at Effingham, Ill. Location

Speedco celebrated their 5 Millionth Lube Customer on November 18 at their Effingham, Ill. Speedco location and gave away a 2010 Dodge Ram Diesel Pickup to their 5 Millionth Lube Customer and a Lucas Oil/Speedco Chopper to their randomly drawn sweepstakes winner.

The Effingham location was filled with Speedco teammates, customers and vendors as Speedco President & CEO Mark Clark awarded the Dodge Ram Pickup and custom built Lucas Oil/Speedco Chopper to their new owners.

“When Speedco called and told me I was the 5 millionth customer and winner of a new pickup, I thought someone was playing a joke on me,” Dave Clark, Speedco’s 5 Millionth Lube Customer commented on the surprise. “I never considered myself lucky, but now I think my luck has definitely changed!”

Lucky winner Mike Aas won the Lucas Oil/Speedco Chopper. The bike was the Grand Prize in a random draw sweepstakes promotion held at all stores prior to the event.

“We are thrilled to be awarding Dave and Mike these one-of-a-kind prizes,” Mark Clark, Speedco President & CEO said. “Giving back to loyal customers like Dave and Mike was the perfect way to celebrate our milestone.”

After unveiling the chopper, winner Mike Aas quickly jumped on his new bike and revved up the engine as the crowd cheered on. Soon after, Dave Clark and supporting vendors came to the stage, as Mark Clark drove through the bay doors with the new Dodge pickup and handed off the keys.

To help celebrate the momentous occasion, Speedco gave back to the community by granting a local wish to 5-year old Make-A-Wish child, Andrew. Andrew and his extended family were at the event to celebrate his upcoming wish trip. Andrew, his twin sister and mom will spend a week at Disney World in January thanks to Speedco’s contributions.

Speedco serviced their 5 Millionth Customer, Dave Clark, on October 24 at the Effingham, Ill. Speedco. Clark has driven truck for more than 22 years and currently drives for S& B Trucking out of Hubbard, Ohio. Clark is a frequent Speedco customer, visiting numerous Speedco locations throughout the nation.

Winner Mike Aas, from Darlington, Wis. has been trucking for 18 years, the last 7 years as an independent owner-operator. Aas has been a loyal Speedco customer for more than 10 years and frequently visits the Ohio Speedco locations. Plus, he is already a motorcycle enthusiast, owning several bikes.

“We couldn’t have made it to 5 million without our hard working teammates and our loyal customers,” Mark Clark commented. “Our company is built on providing the best service to our customers. We’re ready for our next milestone, 10 million customers!”

The first truck lube opened in October 1991 in Effingham, Ill. The business was set with a focused offering and a facility for both quality and speed which in turn trimmed oil change times. After popular demand, Speedco opened a second location 3 years later in Troy, Ill. Because of their fast and friendly service the business continued to grow. Soon, after a joint venture with Shell Oil the business had over 30 locations by the end of 2002. In 2004, Bandag, Incorporated purchased Shell’s interest in Speedco and continued to expand the national footprint and also expanded Speedco’s offering by adding tire lanes and service. Today, Speedco has 51 locations nationwide.
